I’ve been playing online poker alot. My strategy is always play it safe and never take any risk. I only raise and call if I know I have the best hand based on the cards on the board. For example I get QQ and raise everyone. Someone would call my raise and A K J comes from the flop, I would fold the second he bets. If it was anything lower than Q like J T 9, I would bet. The strategy has been working out pretty well so far and seems like it’s foolproof. So what is the weakness to this strategy? I figure people don’t bluff that often because it’s a bit risky. Does this mean I play really loose?

Which Book should I buy? I was reading Super system or whatever but almost freaking 10-20 pages were about his life story etc. So which one would you recommend me. I’m not a novice or amateur anymore (been playing a year). Okay I’m still amateur maybe but I understand the poker pretty well, just need some good strategy/tips. I was thinking to get Theory of Poker by David Sklansky OR Harrington on Holdem by Dan Harrington but are do they contain useful tips and strategy’s only for Real life poker or also for Online Poker too?

I like psychology, handwriting analasys, interpretation of body language, advertising/marketing concepts, sales, acting/screenwriting for film, and strategy of poker. However, I wouldn’t prescribe drugs as a solution to a problem. I wouldn’t be able to counsel the same people day in and day out. Advertising and Marketing are all about selling to people what they dont need by a sublimitaly pursuasive and influentual manner. Anything to do with film is nearly impossible to get into and I wouldn’t be able to take dumb peoples money for a living in poker. Are there any other occupations that these interests can be applied that are there to help and not hurt?

My bf is on this poker high, and has decided he wants to be a pro. That’s worse than wanting to be a pro athlete or even a famous entertainer, wouldn’t you agree? To base your life solely on a gambling game (yes, poker also has strategy tactics, but ultimately its the luck of the draw of the hand)…
I do believe that he is dead serious and wants to move to Las Vegas, NV…
Now, i always tell him i support him and his life and what he wants to do with it, but this? He also was in 3 bands in the past, is a very talented musician, and he just let that go after like 6 years. I think this is exactly like that, but honestly I think he should stick to music cuz he has better chances of doing something…any opinions? Girls, what would you say/do in this situation.

hes been on highs and lows with money since he started this obsession, and i know how its going to turn out. You read the pro poker players biographies…took them5 to 10 years to get there…i dont think its worth it…
it just sucks because he basically is braking up with me for poker…because how can I follow him there for this?
